Holistic Doula Services
Who you choose to be a part of your support system can directly impact your birthing experience. One of the most important aspects of giving birth, no matter how it occurs, is feeling secure, safe, and supported. Doulas are a great addition to your support team since they are always focused on you and your emotional and physical needs. They help keep you informed and aware of your options for you and your baby and help ensure you feel supported in your choices. There are no specific birthing requirements to receive care from a doula; I support all women in all birthing settings from all types of backgrounds. I welcome and support the uniqueness of you and your birth.
Doula services include but are not limited to:
Initial Consultation
Initial consultations are where the doula-client relationship begins. This is your family's time to get to know me to see if I'm a good fit for you. Since the doula-client relationship is a partnership, it is important that you get to know me as much as I will get to know you. These consultations are complimentary and are provided for free.
Prenatal Sessions
Included in the standard care package are two personalized prenatal visits where I will further get to know you and your family. During this time together, we will discuss your desires for your upcoming birth so I can learn how I can best support you. I will also offer customized birth plan assistance to help you clarify your preferences for birth and explain the options that are available to you. This time can also be used for postpartum planning, meal prepping, and house and labor space prepping. I am there to assist you with what you feel you need to be the most prepared.
On-Call Commitment and Continuous Labor Support
From the time you hire me, you will receive unlimited phone support to answer any questions or concerns you might have and be offered suggestions and continuous support throughout your pregnancy and labor.
I am officially on-call for your labor support from 37 weeks until you give birth. You will receive continuous physical, emotional, and informational support for you and your partner for the duration of labor and birth, to help you hold and move towards the vision you created for your baby's birth. I stay with you until 1-2 hours after your baby is born to help facilitate bonding and breastfeeding (if that is something you desire) and help you get comfortable and settled in with your new baby.
Postpartum Follow-Up
Because the fourth trimester can sometimes take some time to adjust to, I will remain available for further emotional and informational support during the first six weeks following your birth. Included in the standard care package are two postpartum visits. I will usually meet with you within 10 days of your birth and again within six weeks. We will use this time to discuss topics such as your birth, any feelings you might have, any educational needs you have, breastfeeding, and answer any questions going forth. During these visits I will also assist you in whatever you feel is needed to keep you and baby bonding and resting as much as possible. *Additional breastfeeding peer counselor sessions are also available.
*Because I believe everyone who wants doula support deserves to have it, payment plans are available per request. However, because these services are in high demand and it's first come first serve, the retainer fee is still due upon contract signing.
